Are Pandemics signs of the End Times?

Matthew 24:36-44

But concerning that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father only.  For as were the days of Noah, so will be the coming of the Son of Man. For as in those days before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day when Noah entered the ark, and they were unaware until the flood came and swept them all away, so will be the coming of the Son of Man. Then two men will be in the field; one will be taken and one left. 41 Two women will be grinding at the mill; one will be taken and one left. Therefore, stay awake, for you do not know on what day your Lord is coming. But know this, that if the master of the house had known in what part of the night the thief was coming, he would have stayed awake and would not have let his house be broken into. Therefore you also must be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.

No one knows. This means no one. The Bible says no one knows the day or the hour. That settles the matter.

V.37-38 For as were the days of Noah, so will be the coming of the Son of Man. For as in those days before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day when Noah entered the ark

The return of Christ will be on a normal day. Jesus says that His return will be just like the Flood. There was no great build-up of events before the flood came. People were going about their normal business. They were making plans for their future. Everything was normal “until the day when Noah entered the ark.”

v.39 ...and they were unaware until the flood came and swept them all away, so will be the coming of the Son of Man.

There were no warning signs. There was not even a doomsday prophet. The people were completely unaware until they were “swept all.” The flood came quickly and there was no time to prepare. Verse 44 also emphasizes this: “…the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.”

Other verses say the exact thing.

Mark 13:33 For you do not know when the time will come.

1 Thessalonians 5:2 For you yourselves know full well that the day of the Lord will come just like a thief in the night.

2 Peter 3:10 But the day of the Lord will come like a thief

Should Christians be Worried?

1 Thessalonians 4:16-17

For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we shall always be with the Lord.

Our future is secure in Christ. We have nothing to fear concerning death or the return of our Lord. Those who are saved will be ushered into heaven to be with Jesus forever. This is a wonderful thing and something every Christian should be looking forward to.
